Building Site Security Systems for Perth Construction
Rest-A-Sured Security fits out active construction and building sites with CCTV, alarms and ANPR vehicle monitoring, connected to 24/7 monitoring, across the Perth metro area and regional WA. We are WA owned and operated, based in Wangara, in the security industry since 1998, and we hold security licence 09458.
A building site is a different job from a finished building. Plant, copper and materials are the target, nobody is on site overnight or over the weekend, and the risk changes as the build progresses: what needs watching at slab stage is not what needs watching at lock-up.
This page is about sites under construction. Once the building is finished, see commercial security systems for the permanent system.
What Construction Site Security Includes
Every site is specified to its layout, stage and the gear kept on it. A typical setup includes:
Site CCTV
Cameras on the gates, site compound, laydown areas and where plant is parked overnight, with viewing from your phone.
Alarms & 24/7 Monitoring
Alarms for the site sheds, containers and secured areas, monitored by a 24/7 grade 1 control room that checks linked cameras before responding.
Vehicle & Gate Control
ANPR at the site gate to log every truck and contractor vehicle in and out, and access control so only the right people open it.
Not sure what the site needs? Our security consulting starts with a walk of the site to work out what it is trying to protect, and from what, before anything is recommended.
Security That Keeps Up With the Build
A construction site changes every few weeks. Fences move, the building goes up, and the valuable gear moves from the compound to the floors. Security planned once at the start is out of date long before handover.
We plan the coverage around the current stage of the build and the areas that matter now: the gate, the compound, where plant is parked and where copper and fit-out materials are stored. As the site changes, cameras can be added and the setup reviewed with you.
Talk to us early. It is far simpler to plan power and cabling for site security at the start than to work around a half-finished building later.
How Construction Site Security Works
Site Assessment
We walk the site with you and map the gates, compound, laydown areas, power and the stages ahead.
Written Quote
A written proposal covering equipment, monitoring and scope of works, so there are no surprises on install day.
Installation
Our technicians install the system around the build, working with your site team so works keep moving.
Handover
We set up user codes, monitoring contacts and phone viewing for your site team, and test everything before we leave.
Ongoing Support
Service checks, repairs and extra cameras as the site progresses, from the same team that installed it.
Construction Site Security by Project Type
Residential Builds & Developments
Housing and apartment developments where fit-out materials, appliances and copper go missing once the building is closed in.
Commercial & Industrial Builds
Larger sites with more plant, more contractors and more vehicle movement, where ANPR at the gate and cameras on the compound earn their keep.
Fit-Outs & Refurbishments
Work inside a building that may be partly occupied, where the secured areas change from week to week.
Regional & Rural Sites
Sites outside the metro area, including locations some competitors will not travel to. See regional installations.
Construction Site CCTV
Cameras on a building site have two jobs: deter theft at night, and give you a record when something goes missing or someone gets hurt. Coverage goes where it matters: the gate, the compound, the laydown areas and wherever plant is parked overnight.
We specify cameras for the light and distance at each position, so faces and number plates are readable where it counts, and the footage can be exported cleanly for WA Police or an insurer. See commercial CCTV installation.
Alarms and 24/7 Monitoring for Building Sites
Nobody is on a building site at 2am, so an alarm that only sounds a siren does very little. Monitored, every signal goes to one of the largest independently owned grade 1 monitoring stations in WA, and an operator responds within 90 seconds.
With cameras tied to the alarm zones, the operator checks what tripped the alarm before responding: a confirmed intrusion gets the response on your list, including a guard where you have arranged one, and a false trigger is stood down. See CCTV monitoring and commercial alarm systems.
ANPR and Vehicle Access at the Gate
Know which trucks and contractor vehicles entered, through which gate and at what time. ANPR reads each plate at the gate and logs it, which helps with delivery disputes and after-hours access, and gives you a clear record when a vehicle incident needs reviewing.
Paired with access control, approved vehicles and people can be let in without handing out keys or remotes.
Site Safety and PPE Detection
On a busy site, cameras do a second job beside security: they help keep people safe. An incident can be seen and responded to at the time, rather than found afterwards.
Cameras covering the site entry can confirm hi-vis and hard hats are being worn where the site rules call for them, either by review or automatically with PPE detection.
Securing the Site Perimeter
The fence line is where most site theft starts. Cameras on the gates and boundary, and alarms on the compound and site sheds, mean an intruder is picked up before they reach the gear. For longer-term perimeters, see electric fencing and perimeter security.
From Construction to a Finished Building
When the build is finished, the site security comes down and the building needs its own permanent system. Because we install both, the permanent CCTV, alarm and access control can be planned while the walls are still open, which is far simpler than running cable later.
See commercial security systems and strata security systems for finished buildings.
What Affects the Cost of Construction Site Security
The cost comes down to the size of the site, the number of gates and cameras, what power is available, how long the build runs, whether the system is monitored, and whether it includes ANPR or access control.
We provide free, no-obligation quotes after a site assessment, in writing, so you know the scope and price before any work starts.

Choosing a Construction Site Security Company in Perth
Rest-A-Sured Security has installed, upgraded and maintained security systems across WA for more than 28 years. We are WA owned and operated, we work from Wangara, and we cover the Perth metro area and regional WA.
If you are comparing construction site security companies, the things worth asking are who answers the alarm at 2am, whether they can see the cameras when they do, and whether they can add to the setup as the site changes.
We are a security licence holder (09458) doing our own installs and our own maintenance. Our alarms are monitored through one of the largest independently owned grade 1 monitoring stations in WA, and because we also install the permanent CCTV, alarms and access control, we can carry the site from construction through to a finished building.

Construction Site Security Perth FAQs
Do you provide security systems for construction sites?
Yes. We fit out active construction and building sites with CCTV, alarms, 24/7 monitoring and ANPR vehicle monitoring, across Perth and regional WA.
Can the site be monitored overnight and on weekends?
Yes. Alarm signals go to a 24/7 grade 1 monitoring station. With cameras linked to the alarm, the operator checks them before responding, within 90 seconds of the signal arriving.
Do you watch the site cameras all night?
Not continuously. Monitoring starts when the alarm does: when a zone trips, the operator checks the cameras covering it and acts on what they see.
Can you add cameras as the build progresses?
Yes. Cameras can be added as the site changes, and we review the setup with you as the build moves on.
Can you log trucks and contractors coming through the gate?
Yes. ANPR at the site gate reads and logs each number plate with the time and the gate used.
Can I see the site cameras from my phone?
Yes. We set up phone viewing for your site team at handover.
Do you cover construction sites outside Perth?
Yes. We cover Perth metro plus rural and regional WA, including locations some competitors will not travel to.
How much does construction site security cost?
It depends on the size of the site, the number of gates and cameras, available power, the length of the build and whether it is monitored. We quote each site individually, and the quote is free.
